How long does it take?

A big advantage of having lice removal at home is being able to get things done while your family is being treated. At the same time, it's nice to have an estimate of how long the whole process will take - especially since that will affect the cost. I like to keep your costs minimal while still doing the most effective job. Removing lice properly takes time, but there are ways to be efficient. (I wish someone could invent a magic wand or product, but they simply don't exist - and someone who tells you they have it is not being honest).

Everything depends on the length and texture of the hair, and how much lice may or may not be present. Thick, curly or coarse hair will take longer to check and/or treat than short, straight hair. Tangled hair must be de-tangled thoroughly first, so my nit comb can access every strand of hair. I am excellent at de-tangling, but if you have your children's hair detangled upon arrival, it will save time and money. (If your child tends to melt down when you do it, it might be worth it to have 'a stranger' help; children behave differently and it sets the mood for success!)

Expect (on average) each person to take a minimum of 15 minutes (for someone with straighter, detangled hair and no lice) up to an hour (for curly/coarse hair) with lice. Extreme cases can take longer. Once each person has been evaluated, I will let you know what to expect. (Appointments are a one-hour minimum).

During your appointment, I will handle you and your family with maximum efficiency and tell you what to expect. I won't waste time 'counting' lice and nits; the only important number is the one at the end of your appointment... ZERO!
